A Little About Me
To decide about meeting, it’s worth getting acquainted — remotely at first.
My path in psychotherapy has been long, winding, and filled with various events. I began my first consultations back in 2000, as a psychotherapy student at the time.
While studying psychotherapy, I initially trained in existential psychotherapy and psycho-organic analysis. Additionally, I gained thorough insight over several years in therapeutic approaches such as neuro-vegetative therapy and Jungian analysis. I have also obtained a supervisor qualification in existential psychotherapy. (More about the approaches and their differences can be read here.)
Academically — my first higher education is in physics, followed by psychology (University of Latvia, BSc, MSc). Studies continued with research work in Austria, Vienna — at the Sigmund Freud University (SFU) in the psychotherapy doctoral program. The doctoral thesis topic — a generic model of psychotherapy training (Generic model of psychotherapy training).
For a long time, I was also actively involved in psychotherapy organizations — the Latvian Association of Psychotherapists (long-standing board member, head of the psychotherapists’ registry, and ultimately — president of the association), as well as the European Association for Psychotherapy — co-chair of the national organizations committee, head of the ethics coordination commission. After several years of work in these professional organizations, I resigned from them — I am currently a free and independent psychotherapist.
Alongside psychotherapy, in recent years my interest has increasingly turned to various spiritual practices — meditation, mindfulness, the spiritual dimension in human life. The main sources I draw upon are three ancient teachings — Yoga, Buddhism, and Advaita Vedanta.
Currently, people come to me with questions about relationships — with a partner, friends, colleagues, parents, children. With questions about attitude — toward oneself, events in one’s life, one’s current life, one’s future plans. With questions about improving quality of life — both professional (personal effectiveness, coaching) and personal. With questions about values — what is important in life, what is important to different people. With decisions that are hard to make, hard to choose. Also — often with quite vague complaints — about life not being quite what they would like it to be, even though everything seems to be fine. Consultations are possible at various levels — both at the everyday life level, manifesting in relationships with colleagues and loved ones, and much deeper — at the personality, character, and depth level, which manifests in absolutely all areas of life. Recently, people have been asking questions no longer just about the psyche, but about our spiritual dimension — about the meaning of life, complex questions in spiritual practice, or bringing spiritual practice into everyday life.
In the articles section, I have posted some materials related to both psychotherapy and life more broadly — there are newspaper and magazine articles, interviews, and so on. If there are any comments on these articles, I would be happy to hear them. You can reach me by writing me an email.
To book a consultation, you can call 29213238 — or send a message (SMS, WhatsApp) to the same number listed above.
Currently, I continue working as a lecturer — giving courses and seminars both in academic settings — Latvian and foreign universities, and for businesses and organizations. I have also recorded several online courses, a few of which include:
- The Power of Mindfulness (a comprehensive online course of 10 sessions over 2-3 months)
- Mental Hygiene (an online course — 21 days, 10 minutes per day.)
- In-person course Mindfulness (8 sessions)
In closing — I only share with clients those techniques and methods that I have personally tested in practice and that truly work. That is why I am confident in what I offer.
See you!
